Important detail for leavers and faders here, - never meet with congregation officials - it turns your exit or your progressive fade back to zero, and reestablishes elders continuing ecclesiastic authority over you.

I suspect Phizzy is correct in the reasoning that the label inactive (but still a JW) gives them the imagined perpetual control they want.

They think they can fill that box with inactive, for years after the person has reclaimed their freedom, and eventually DF or DA them as an act of ecclesial authority.

The example of Norman Hancock may well become our model.

You are correct - it was a long time ago- a real bombastic quote from one of the old guard.

I've seen it within the past year and, now I need it staight from the magazine likely Watchtower.

You have hit the nail squarely on the head!

This is the distinction I hope to make - that people who have intentionally abandoned the religion, are purposefully mislabelled by the hounders as inactive.

They are not present tense inactive, they are done, faded, escaped, past tense GONE, present tense free persons.

The fact that many of these people are hassled years after reclaiming their own freedom, is a violation of their rights to religious freedom.

The old quotes I am hoping someone can find substantiate that the act of abandonment is or can be the most powerful demonstration of the exercise of a religious freedom.

There were a couple really dogmatic quotes from years gone by that I can't locate... quotes that unequiviocally asserted that those not preaching were not JWs.

The quotes may have been from times prior to the term ''inactive'' appearing on time cards.

Why do people "come back"?

i know of several examples of ones that "left the truth" for up to 20 years, only to suffer through the reinstatement process and feel like they are finally back on track.. how does this happen?.

i personally know of one example where a father of three, leaves jws, abandons wife and family, lives as a gay man then comes back 20 years later as a partaking member of the anointed..

I think that scenario from past times will become less and less common.

Many examples are from pre-internet times when the ostracism actually excluded people - now to be freed from the life wasting cults persuits is more likely to lead to a person expanding both their knowledge base and social contacts and skills.

Truth be told, most peoples lives improve in many ways not really likely while still indide the borg.

These quotes will help in making the point that - ''a deliberate and conscious decision to cease performing the public works of a religion (whose raison d'etre is those works) is a legitimate and obvious public expression of abandonment of that religion.''

Watch How We Walk by Jennifer Lovegrove 2013

This book made it to the long list for the 2014 Giller Prize for Literature here in Canada.

I got it from our local library last fall and enjoyed the read.

Everything that happened within this JW family, happened to my family -everything.

I made sure to tell the librarian that it is a very accurate depiction of the private pressures, that being JW thrusts upon ordinary families and that the end is sadly too realistic.

Don't join this cult -if you're already in , leave now.

I would surmise that if WT operates in Mexico as a cultural entity that this would be their best opportunity to get a double-edged return on investment. Cultural education that is inseparable from WT authority, and a new souce of converts who come preprogrammed by the linguistic afinity.

Canadian Aboriginals are likely targeted in the same fashion. Unbelievably, the Revenue Canada Agency grants tax free status to the cult, partly on its claim to be an educational entity, irrespective of its views of higher education. Canad being what it is, there is likely money flowing to WT to do cultural work there as well.

Canadian aboriginals hopefully will equate Bethel et al on a par with residential schools and not get sucked in again by white guys with a bunch of ''bible based '' baloney.

It was Watchtowers journalistic dishonesty that was my first clue that they really didn't value factual truth.

At a district convention (organized by WT) one brother from each attending congregation was given a ''press release'' to take back to local newspapers in their espective teritories, to garner free local PR.

It was just a printed infomercial for the cult extolling the numbers in attendance. It was made to appear as an interview including a longwinded quote - to which we brothers were supposed to fill in our own names as the source of the quote!

They not only orchestrated this deception but expected to foist it off on unsuspecting local newspapers.
